Renaissance Charms (2018)

Four All-Time Dance Hits arranged for concert band by Micah Levy and Gary Scudder
Composed by Tylman Susato (c. 1510/15 – after 1570)

Duration: 4 minutes

Program Notes
This suite of four Renaissance dances is taken from Tylman Susato's Danserye, a collection of sixty dance movements published
in 1551. The source for these arrangements is John Kilpatrick's excellent 2016 edition. These dance movements were originally
written for a quartet of Krummhorns (bent horns). Krummhorns are capped double - reed instruments. Hence the player's
lips never touch the reed. The quartet included a superius, contra-tenor, tenor & bassus.
